Interim Pastor’s Message
Many years ago a wise pastor said that in order to do the work of the kingdom of God here on earth, you need to have a song in your heart. What he meant by that is that you need a song, or a poem, or a concrete vision that expresses for you what God has in mind for the world, brought into reality through his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Whenever the going gets tough, that song, poem or concrete vision will help you to get through the tough spots.
For me, singing keeps me going. The song that I have on my heart has this refrain:
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to that Rock I’m clinging.
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
how can I keep from singing?
You individually need something of this sort to keep you going, and so does Bethesda as a whole. May Bethesda’s song give hope and comfort in times of struggle, as well as praise and thanksgiving in times of blessing.
I rejoice with you that Pastor-elect Maggie Novak will be coming on board as your pastor. My last Sunday at Bethesda is November 12th, and Maggie will start her ministry with and among you on November 13th. I’ve enjoyed serving you these past ten months, and I am grateful that I have gotten to know many of you on a personal level. You have been a blessing to me as I hope that I’ve been a blessing to you.
Yours in Christ,
Ralph Baumgartner, Interim Pastor
